fnb online banking

Does anyone here know if fnb's online banking platform works properly on linux?
And does it work without having to install any extra software like Java etc?
I'm looking to do banking off of an Ubuntu live cd so it would help if it only required a browser.

Yes, all you need is a browser. Works on any platform.

Works perfectly, in Chrome / Chromium / Firefox I believe even Opera works perfectly on Linux and FNB..

FNB is using Ubuntu as their main OS. Nevertheless, the internet is the same on all OSs. You might find the internet more responsive on Linux, since it doesn't have to go through so many microsoft crap. On the live cd, there is Firefox preinstalled that should be fine. But you can install Chromium if you want via the software centre.

Indeed when I signed up the other day, it seemed like they were using Ubuntu 10.04. One of the few times I've seen Linux being used in a non-technical environment.

The Internet is the same on all OSs but it is preferable not to need to install proprietary Flash.

A couple of months back, I had to urgently transfer some funds while at work. We don't have internet on our workstations and they are administrator locked to prevent installing extra hardware/devices and software. I booted up the PC using an Ubuntu live disk, connected my phone to it via USB, shared the internet and used FNB online banking to carry out the transaction. Worked perfectly.

Needles to say, restarting the machine restored it to its previous, generally useless, state.
