Hi,

I am having issues with FNBs website, it extremely slow, and I get errors.

Is this only happening my side, or is this happening for everyone?

Just you ... (or at least, it's fine for me)

Hi,

i am having the same difficulties. Transactions are not registering on my account either.

I cant logon it tells me invalid password, and when I follow the forgotten password link it tells me invalid logon id.

Also can't get thru to their call centre, I think they have a problem.

I wasn't able to log on either this morning. Seems to be OK now.

This seems to happen a lot to FNB. They need to sort out their system stability.

Nope, I have just seen a lot of complaints recently online regarding FNB's website and the frequent outages. There was a major outage a month or three back. Our DR team even got details of it to check that Nedbank does not have the same vulnerability. So no facts but certainly a lot of hearsay. Also if you search say a forum like this how many threads are there regarding FNB being down as apposed to any other bank. Seems FNB is generating a lot more noise. That may be due to FNB clients being more whiny but I suspect its just because they are less stable. What's your take?

FNB generates more noise because I'd venture a guess that FNB has more online clients who frequent boards like this, than the other, less progressive, banks.

There have been two issues with FNB in the last few months that I am aware of. One completely out of their control - the power surge that destroyed their UPSs at their primary DC - and then the glitch affecting some users on the 18th. Would love your input on how to stabilise city power... since city power don't seem to know what the problem was in the first place ;)

Absa had a major internet banking outage on payday last month if I remember right... caused by an upgrade. An upgrade just before payday? whoops!

Haha, ABSA is kinda the joke of SA banking. I have no clue how they are still so big. I was with them for yonks and was constantly confused by their lack of paper. There was never paper in the ATM's to print a statement, and when I went into a branch after my first payday to see their fee structures on their proper accounts they had no brochures. Hence I switched away from the Dinosaur and have never looked back.

Otherwise good point on the FNB probably having more online clients. Makes sense.

Did you know FNB have been running from a DR site since that power surge, and switched back on Saturday?
Pretty seamless ;) Though I wonder if the problems on the 18th were related to that...

I have also had problems, but mine started on Sunday 17th. The rewards section did not work as well as the upgrading of my account.

I did hear they where still running on DR since the power spike and had been for a long time. Our DR boys told us at the last DR test about 3 weeks back. Glad to hear they are back onto the prod system as if the DR system went down as well it would have really hit the fan for them. Having had a real DR situation happen to me on one of my critical servers I can feel for them. At least with us the DR kicked in seamlessly (thanks in no small part to my efforts to improve the system). I got a nice bonus that year.

2 DR sites's???? Wow, the next level of Redundancy. Did not realize anyone in SA had gone to that level. I know that military systems have multiple levels like that but figured money was too tight in the business world to justify it.

Considering that a complete failure would be the end of the business, it's probably justifiable ;)
