FNB Phishing SMS?

I received an SMS from a number where FNB usually send me smses (082 007 0153)

the sms says:

FNB DEBIT CARD NUMBER...####, was Activated on Account Number...######, on 19 AUG 2001 at 08:44. Call 0800 110 2244 if Card not Received.

*I replaced the numbers with hashes.


I DID NOT order a debt card, I own a cheque card.
The account number doesn't match my account number though.



should I be worried?

Contact FNB just to be safe. Also can you login to online banking?

Probably just another idiot who gave the bank an incorrect number. Received one yesterday telling "Miss Mphikwa" that "she" is eligible for a loan.

You can log into the online banking and check which cards are linked to your account, can even deactivate them

Wouldn't it have been faster just to phone FNB? Chances are your cellphone number was captured against another customer.

I think it's probably this... I mean, it's not my account number, and I don't see any new accounts on the website.


I don't like calling banks as then I have to give someone my details, which I try to avoid as much as possible.
