FNB Platinum clients have access to the FNB Premier Banking - I'm wondering what you use it for? and what you can use it for?

Sometimes if clients are not informed to the extent/boundaries of the service, they may be missing out..

The initial email from premier banker:

I will now be your one point of contact at FNB, you are welcome to contact me for any of your personal banking needs.

What I've used my premier banker for (via direct email) :
1. Changing my Overdraft limit on my Cheque Account
2. Changing my Credit Limit on my Credit Card
3. Adding products (roadside assistance) to my account
4. Specific transaction related queries.

I've been unable to use my premier banker for Forex/ Global accounts:
Unfortunately, I am not able to assist with any forex transactions as I do not have access to that product category on my side.

So... any good ways to make the most use of the service ??

Sometimes I get lonely and need someone to just listen. My Premier banker fulfils this role perfectly.

You can do points 1,2 and 3 through internet banking. Are you sure you are getting your money's worth? I'll stick to my gold card thank you, not paying more money for a platinum card for services that I'll never use.

Not sure at all, hence the thread

I once questioned this too.. and the answer is simple :-) If you are questioning it then you aren't using it to the best of your abilities...

I use my private banker to answer questions so that I don't have to
1) investigate
2) call a call center
3) go into a branch
I can also call him or his sidekick directly or just pop them an email and they will get back to me in a few hours.

Documents / Cards / etc are all sent to me (those that can't be emailed). The "paper work" that has to be completed is completed for me so that ALL i have to do is sign.

It may be perceived as expensive.. I could save 2-300bucks a month doing it myself....but my time is worth more to me than the monthly fees.

EDIT: I missed this bit... but on Global Accounts... my banker does all the leg work. I just sign on the dotted line. And *things happen*

I've used mine for pretty much everything. All the way from product information, account queries, interest rate negotiations, vehicle finance quotes, etc. etc. I've really come to realize the value of this service.

Whatever concerns or queries you have. They will be able to assist you. They like your personal assistant. Anything bank related I speak to them first. You get 110% service and they get things done quicker that the normal process. They give sound advice too.

Trust me if you not using your Premier Banker you are losing out

Yes a personal assistant that takes 3 business days to reply to an email... I am going to be going back to Gold, really not point in the premier bankers

Case in point:

I bought a watch for my wife from a UK-based retailer.

The transaction was processed at today 14:12:36 (as per the sms notification).

I just got off the phone with my premier banker (10 minutes later), confirming that I am aware of the transactions.

It really goes both ways. If you don't have a need for one, then don't make use of them. If you have a need for one and they are just useless, request a switch.

You can check on your online banking profile.
Once logged in, click on "Contact Your Premier Banker" tab on the top. It should show the name of the person.
If it doesn't, contact the PB helpdesk and ask them to please update your online profile to reflect the details. I had to do this, in spite of having spoken to my banker a couple of times before.

you can, but you guys should really leverage it for better interest rates and what not. At every upgrade I've done from Gold to Platinum to Graphite, I've scored a little bit here and there, and it has always outweighed the increased banking charges.

I was in Angola with no international roaming, and very limited internet access. I emailed the Private Banking Suite to cancel my Credit Card which I lost some time during my visit.

6 days (4 working days) later I got a phone call to confirm the cancellation (I had already cancelled when I got back). I wasn't very impressed.

I think you only get a named premier banker if you are on graphite. I am on platinum.

I have now done the contact premier banker with a small query and they replied that they will get back to me in two business days. I can get that information in a couple of minutes by calling the call centre myself or posting a question on mybb

Nope. I had mine when I was still on Platinum as well.

All things said and done, the helpdesk is useless, I have to admit that.

I've had Platinum for about 3 years and I have a named premier banker. I believe FNB changed this recently so that new sign-ups have to go via the call-centre - platinum clients that previously had named premier bankers should still have them.
