Hi all,

Anybody noticed how FNB has blocked your attempts at trying to reverse fraudulent debit orders during this lockdown period. Instead what they say is we must contact the service provider to refund our money as if scammers would do that. Anyway how legal is this ?

Thanks,

Was this a DebiCheck debit order?

According to http://www.debicheck.co.za/how-it-works/

The money will not be taken
if the debit order is outside the
terms of the contract.

I assume whoever you have your contract with didn't start charging more than you agreed, but rather you "downgraded" and should now be charged less (based on your statement). If this is the case then I believe FNB is correct, you need to sort it out with the business.

This is one of the pitfalls of DebiCheck, you can no longer easily dispute mandated debit orders

Funny how it was fraudulent first, and now only over charged, that is why their is a thing like debicheck for people that want to get away from not paying their accounts.
