Hi guys, wondering if anyone can assist. After completing my income tax return last year, they assessed it and said that I have to pay in. I know it's a bit late to be asking this now but I kept forgetting about it.

Have any of you (who are with FNB) paid your tax return online via eFiling/FNB online banking? Can you please provide step-by-step instructions because I don't want to mess it up.

I've tried searching but the information seems very vague and convoluted. For example, FNB says this:
# Submit payment instructions via the SARS eFiling system
# Payment instructions are submitted to FNB Online Banking
# The taxpayer authorises the payment on FNB Online Banking
# The payment is processed to the SARS eFiling account
# FNB Online Banking sends a reply to notify the SARS eFiling system of the status of the payment

Wtf does that even mean? I'm basically just looking for an idiots guide written in plain English, i.e. push this button on this site, fill in these fields, push this button on that site etc. but it seems impossible to find :(

Also, is there any way to find out your outstanding balance owing on eFiling? The only amount that I see is for the initial assessment, which obviously excludes interest accrued over the past few months.

Thanks guys!

Click on the phishing email link.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

I've never used that function. I've paid using the once-off payment or beneficiary payment with my ITA number as a reference.

Hehe :P

Ok so you basically did a once off payment with SARS-ITA as the public recipient, and long string of characters (income tax no.+T+00000000) as their reference? Do you perhaps know who the proof of payment can be sent to?

Yip. ITA number is only your tax number (no letters). Mine is 10 digits.

Never sent a proof of payment. They've always picked it up. They're quite efficient when it comes to collecting money, not anything else though.

as far as i am aware one cannot submit payment via EFT anymore. you can go into the bank and do a transfer. many banks have their own deposit slips specifically for SARS.
the only other alternative is to enter your banking details on your e-filing profile and follow the steps. this way you will get notification of payment made via email and sms.
regarding outstanding interest accrued, have a look for your statement of account which you can find on your profile. where you see IT34 just underneath that will be the SOA.
hope this helps a bit.

Man, I've just screwed up.

So this thread reminded me that I had to pay in R2k last year. I remembered doing it via the eFiling website, but wasnt sure whether it went through because I didnt get an SMS from my bank. So, I logged into eFiling, and the payment was there, as if I had not paid it. So I paid it again, and only then did I check my old bank statements and find that the payment had actually gone off on the 22nd of November. So now I've paid the same amount twice. I've just emailed Sars about it, but does anyone have another way that I can contact someone at Sars about this? Via email preferably, I avoid call centres if possible.

Now doing my payment too and the damn online banking is not accepting my 19 digit reference number :mad:
