Ok, so after my last interaction with FNB - "We don't send you your statements anymore" ... "On the statement it says that cannot contest payments made after 30 days, so that's legally binding" - I'm done with them. Thinking of moving to Bank Zero.

Any recommendations?

They haven't sent statements since I joined them more than 8 years ago. You download them manually and can even get a confirmation for your account while you are at it.

Why would you contest a payment made more than 30 days ago, that would most certainly complicate things

That's fine - although they never told me they'd stop ... last one was in 2022.

Because the branch manager promised me that I wouldn't be charged for something and I took him by his word. Sure, I should have checked, but that's not the point.

They still send me my Cheque account statement monthly. Just shows you these asshats don't know their ass from their elbow.

Just download the statement.

Interesting. I was told when I signed up there won't be any statements sent, but I can get them any time at no cost (for the last 3 months) from the site and I was happy with that. Not sure if they change that whether it would be enough to move banks completely, I'm sure wherever you move to will have their own issues as well.

For me FNB has been absolutely fantastic in the way they handle things, much better than my wife that's with Absa, which seems to have a different issue every month

I've been with FNB since they were still Barclays Bank in the 1980's.
Never needed to even look at any other bank as they have been #1.
Been with Standard Bank since the 80s as well. Would have moved to FNB, but the shitty service my wife got convince me to stay with Standard Bank.

I moved away from STD bank when they insisted I go to a branch for every single thing I want from them. You want bank statements, branch. Want your mobile app password reset, branch.

I just phone / email my private banker.

Precovid I was a top percentage earner. Now I am back to being a normal earner, still kept the private account as I like just emailing and it get sorted.
