Hi guys, I have a Corsa bakkie. I have Osram nightbreaker+ bulbs on it. Brights are good enough but I added Hella 500FFs, dims are a bit weak though, they only light up the area close to the car so am looking to augment them with some mini driving lamps. I got two pairs of yellow and clear lamps. Which would be a better setup, having both sets connected to the dims and each pair with its own relay or connecting them like I did with my 500 ie having their own circuit and switch, drawing power directly from the battery. If I go with the former would I need a higher rated fuse and would a bigger battery help. 628 to 630. Btw which work better as foglights, clear or yellow lights ?

Yellow is better for fog.

Far as I know it's not legal to use fog lights when there is no fog...

I know that but I intend to use them as driving lights to augment my dims. If they end up being good while driving through fog, bully for me.

Has anyone ever been fined for driving with fog lights on?

Have you checked the alignment of your headlights? That could be the issue, rather than needing extra lights. Also, make sure the lenses and reflectors are clean.

If you do this, then I have two words for you. Fsck you.

Hate the morons driving around with their fog lights on the whole time - worse than brights.

If you're talking about rear foglights, I agree 100%. Front ones? No ways. They are designed to light down and out, not up into your eyes....

I have never seen a fog light worse than a bright? Unless its those stupid aftermarket fogs which means the chop more than likely has ridiculously bright HID's in reflective housings

But they drive around with it, making you think they have brights on and then burn the hell out of your eyes when you bright them..

So you are unable to tell the difference between foglights (under the bumper) and brights (on the same level as other headlights)...?

Where abouts do you drive? I need to make allowances...

I agree with G64, the fogs do add to the brightness of the main beams. You only need look at the cars with fogs on and normal beams on and those with just their mains. This "cool" factor is idiotic. It may not be as bad a brights but it is unnecessarily brighter and your eyes have to keep adjusting to different levels of oncoming lights.

You shouldn't be driving either.

Instead of two bright points on the approaching car you have 4.
That is irritating and unnecessary.

Then they are aftermarket ones that are incorrectly fitted.

A FOG is designed NOT to blind you, as I have said 413 times before.

May be those who need the additional brightness ought to be off the road or have their eyes checked for night driving with normal lights on. Your main beams are sufficient lighting.

I'm starting to think there are lots of people with serious eye photosensitivity on this forum

I recon they need to have their eyes checked because they obviously can't see there is no fog.
