I have always had a few of their mainstream singles in my playlist, however last Friday I got their complete discography and started with Disintegration - unbelievable. Currently listening through the rest of the albums and really enjoying it. I am huge Depeche Mode fan however this is something else. Their tribute track on The Art of McCartney is better than the original.

Pornography is the best, never got into the mainstream stuff.

Joy Division sounds like Depeche Mode just less evolved.

About pornography, beautiful piece of work if you listen to it as whole, but Disintegration just feels so much deeper especially if you know the background to which it was written. Take the time to listen to Disintegration from start to finish and also Entreat (the live version). It is hard to not let something like that get under your skin.

There are some defining moments where bands that were popular in the 80's but survived it broke the mold. Think of the Wedding Album for Duran Duran or Violator for Depeche Mode. Despite coming out in 1989 that was the work of The Cure that showed they were timeless.

Listening to a different Joy Division to the one I know - and love. Timeless. They don't sound anything alike.
