I like the idea of a modern city and infrastructure started from scratch.

Part of what makes cities inefficient and ineffective is that they were not designed in the modern age, and upgrading is hugely expensive because of the extra work it therefore entails.

Starting from scratch using the latest technology and knowledge has the potential to create a hyper-modern, extremely efficient and effective city.

Imagine if one of these cities got set up in South Africa. Extremely efficient road systems (right width, easy to navigate, properly named, no bottlenecks) combined with fibre broadband from the get go. Proper ratios of services to residents. Clean, effective and efficient sewerage and drainage systems. It's in the interests of the investors to build it right first time because when you're working on the scale of a city, putting in poor infrastructure is going to cost a freaking fortune in the long run, so you get the best of the best in terms of quality.

Sounds really really kewl.
