Would one say this is as good a media player as say the Playon? Or is it a totally different thing? I know it doesnt obviously take a hard drive but it does play network stuff right?

It's okay. Not found much of a use for it yet.
Everyone eaten and disappeared now. Wifey having a sleep, son playing his new game, and girls gone to see their boyfriends. So me thinks I will take some time to fiddle with it some more. Still prefer my Roku's over it - by far - but think this thing could come in handy when going away on holiday.
