So we have a 2019 Ford Ranger that went for it's 120 000km service on the 5th of August.
Never had a day's problem with it, but 3000km after the service, and after the warranty ran out on 120 000km, the gearbox breaks.
I'm not one for conspiracies but boy this is more suspect than a covid vaccine. Damage estimated at around R70k.
Now I get why there are so many Ford memes.
Sorry to hear that. I've heard Ford gearboxes are the pits.
My father-in-law had an issue with his Fortuner injectors literally 1 month after the warranty expired. Toyota dealership refused to repair them and then it got escalated to Toyota SA who replaced them at their cost, with my father-in-law paying for an hour's labour. Hopefully it comes down to something like this otherwise get uppity with them about it, and refer it to various social media channels.

nothing a tyre, some petrol and a match can't fix.

Sorry to hear. Is it not worth it getting a 2nd hand gearbox, refurbish it, and swap the gearbox out?

Also what @TheChamp said. Try to get a 2nd/3rd opinion. Maybe the original guys missed something, and it do happen.

Thats why I bought an Izuzu KB6 3L Auto so far no problems. I looked at Ford 5cyl, but there were problems then.

However my neighbour bought an Izuzu KB6 manual new after me, it was not long, had to replace clutch and something about the gearbox, I heard about this so bought the automatic. He trade it for a I think 2.5 Ford.

I bought a 2.5 DC manual new in 2016ish. Gave it to my dad when we left and still runs great.
Even though we never had problems with it, I kept a "ford" savings amount on the side just in case. Know what you own, lol!

Welcome to the FORD bakkie gearbox problem Club.
What is the problem with the gearbox? Jumping out of gear?

My parents had a similar thing happen to a BMW. They actually agreed back then to cover the parts and my parents the labour.
This happened to me many moons ago with my BMW 320d - BMW covered a new gearbox post motorplan in good faith, and I had to pay labour

Probably worth going to a gearbox specialist.

Exactly why I will never by a Ford. Even when I was a teenager my dads Ford bakkie broke down in the centre off town :X3:
I've had a few Ford cars along the way, and they've been generally really solid and reliable. Sold most at well over 200000km; my second Mondeo I sold in great condition at 340000km. In my experience, they've been longer lasting and more reliable than most of the other cars I've had.
