Hi everyone,

My Figo is busy getting the shocks sorted and asked them to check the clutch as something didn't quite feel right.

Turns out clutch is fine but the gear support mounting is rather worn. I've been quoted R2 850 to get it sorted.

Is that about right?

What is a gear support mounting? Is it a gearbox support mounting or gear lever support mounting?

That is the phrasing he gave me. Will get an official quote when I collect the car later and clarify
 
No, that is way too much. You can get same from Pumaspeed in UK for about R600.

Okay, we can only whether it's good or bad once we know exactly what it is. It does sound a tad too much knowing that it's just something you unscrew and put a new one it.

I think the part would not be over R1k plus labour it shouldn't go beyond R1500.

So still awaiting the formal quote but as per the notes on my finished shocks invoice, this is what needs to be done. Verbatim...

"Gearbox Supporter Mounting
Stabilizer links
Clutch + Concentric bearing overhaul"

But I thought the clutch was fine?

R2800 for all of that? Now the price is too low and that's also dodgy. A clutch is a big job, unless I don't understand what is meant by overhaul.

Let me push for the official quote tomorrow. I suspect they're being lazy with their language
 
So this is what I've been sent as a formal quote. Definitely going to get a second opinion, very vague
