Foreign ETF's

Anyone here invested on foreign ETF's?

How do you go about it? Who do you use?

Are the associated costs a big problem? Currency exchange costs etc.

How does it perform over the locals?

Specifically contemplating the more dividend heavy ETF's that I read about often in other territories. We don't have many options in that regard.

Most of them seem to be actively managed. e.g.

But yeah - I'd be interested too if someone has an answer to EFTs in particular.

I think SauRoNZA means moving money overseas and investing in ETFs there.

I don't know, I think its only worth the admin if you can take a decent sum over, like R50 000 or more.

Quick Google says that Global Funds can be ETF's as well, so that doesn't help the confusion.

Yup that's exactly what I mean.

Yeah obviously a debit order is going to be pure murder on charges unless you can load up a PayPal account or something which is probably unlikely.

I have some managed international investments but I was specifically looking at ETF's due to their low cost and "direct" nature.

D/O is a South African thing I thought? So you'd need a SA company to specifically move the cash overseas. Kinda skeptical that they'll do that on razor thin EFT fees tbh.
