Foreign film crew robbed at Silvermine

Yes, but the next mugger may be a bit smarter, and if you then try to be brave it could have tragic consequences.

And he just may pick the friend that is a Krav Maga master and come up short.

Fact is many factors determine the outcome of these situations, numbers is one of them.

Never underestimate the braveness of a small group of charous - it is something to behold:crylaugh:

The odds are that he will pick one of the others and then the Krav Maga master will be helpless - or would he choose the life of a friend over a phone ?

Anyway, the point is that you have to be careful, and this sometimes means staying away from known trouble spots like Silvermine.

I agree you obviously have to be careful and avoid dangerous areas but answer me this. If you had to walk through a sketchy area for whatever reason would you rather be by yourself or in a group of other guys? That should tell you whether or not numbers matter, which is my point.

Sure, I'm just saying that you can't rely on that. Especially not if there are a few ladies or elderly present, because the muggers will target the weak. And some of these muggers are quite ruthless.

I never said you should, merely that it plays a factor as a reply to your “makes no difference” comment. A lot of the time “the weak” means people walking alone.

You people realise that the foreigners|tourists might read this thread? Your nonsensical arguing does say something about South Africa. And Knyro keep in mind: material things can be replaced. A taken life can not. I'll never consider traveling to SA without compressive insurance. FFS, I'll even help the poor criminals transport the loot to wherever they want to go. Just don't hurt or kill anybody in my group.
