I was just curious if you guys often restore your phones to factory settings and go through the whole jailbreak thing again.

My phone has been rather slow lately and I assumed it was because of installing and uninstalling a lot of stuff through the last couple of months. I thus tried to restored it to factory settings and then the problems starts. Have managed to get it up and running again, however doesn't want to jailbreak now.

So ja, I was just curious if you also find it such a terrible long excercise. I definately won't be doing it again any time soon (that's even if I can get it to jailbreak now).

I find that a clean install is faster on the older iPhones (3G and original), particularly compared to a Jailbroken install with themes, wallpapers, and backgrounder etc. However the 3GS has always been really fast for me.

If you have a 3G, you may find that 4.0 is quite slow on your phone, you might wanna make sure you can downgrade before you take the plunge.

Have a 8GB 3G on 3.1.3 - wish I stuck with 3.1.2 since that one seems to be easier. I jailbreaked (broke?) it with Sn0wbreeze way back, however now I get an error 1601 and the iREB program doesn't want to help either. Tried Spirit as well, and even though it tells me it has been been jailbreaked, the phone stays stuck on a purple/pink screen.

But worst of all, I made a backup yesterday but itunes only gives me the option to restore to someone elses phone that I worked on 3 months ago.

Love the phone and can't live without it, but Apple needs to be hit in the babymaker.

Okay seems like redsn0w did the job. Still my backup is gone, which means a year of sms's, photos and I can't even think what else. This really sucks.

You jailbroke it and now it won't work properly and somehow this is Apple's fault?! You need to explain that to me ...

lol, I know I know, but let's not go into that topic - it has been discussed so many times.

It's a moo point, like a cows opinion, it doesn't matter, it's moo.
