Street races, tracks are dirty and uneven, there are no tyre changes.F1 uses slicks, I actually don't know why Formula E doesn't. Do they even do tyre changes or just use the same compound race after race, in which case it makes sense to have a single all weather tyre.
Formula E has used all-weather Michelin tyres since the championship began in 2014, the idea being that they’re suitable and hard-wearing for the track conditions and more of a ‘relatable’ road tyre compound than those found in championships like F1. Back when Formula E had its mandatory car swaps, cars would only be doing half a race distance. Now, with a new and improved Gen2 car, these machines will be completing a whole race distance and Michelin has made a new tyre compound to match that challenge.
This design of tyre is so that it can be used in dry or wet conditions, as seen in the pre-season test in Valencia ahead of Season 5 when a downpour made for very wet track conditions.
Rooting For Stoffel with mercedesWould be great if De Vries wins it! I thought he'd be in line for an F1 seat but a Merc E-prix is just as good, if not better.
Street circuits make more sense. Tracks can easily change, and it will attract a lot of fans who don't wish to go to a circuit.I just wish they would get off the street circuits... that said, I think it would expose the speed deficit to F1 and fuel powered series on some tracks.
