So its coming.

Formulae E - the era of electronic single seater racing.

www.fiaformulae.com

10 rounds over 10 months with some very well known names in support and drives.

Bonus is that the Formula E season covers the long Nov - Mar winter break so at least we'll have some racing to watch.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this. First round 13 Sept in Beijing.

More to come.

Interesting. I hope though, it doesn't become another A1 Racing series. That was just bloody awful...

Yes, same, its FIA governed so like it or not, I think that gives it stability.

Also, as long as there are big names people will watch.

For now, 8 ex F1 drivers or big names across 10 teams, good start.

Absolutely. And since electric power is clearly the future, it might attract big brands as well. Who knows... In a year or two we might see Audi vs Porsche vs BMW vs Mercedes vs Ferrari (if they get sick of F1) vs Toyota vs Honda.

That would be some lineup!

The sound of the cars are piercing. I wonder how long until fans get annoyed with that or will the wireless charging coming in the second season keep them more intrigued. I do know that StarSat will be showing the races.

Ha, if i'm not mistaken the Formula E cars sound better than the current F1 grid.

I see in todays testing the cars are pacing at a steady 1m31s. There is under 1 sec difference from the slowest to the fastest.

We may just see an event where driver skills are predominant in determining the winner.

Now that will be something.

Methinks if the series turns out to be a success the FIA may just leave it alone.

Eish, so there we have it.

Feedback from SS:

Currently there is no broadcast intentions with this new class of Motor Racing.
