“The conditions I witnessed were appalling. You find conditions where four students camped in one room. Yet each of the four students has been charged R26000. That is exploitation‚”

Accounting student Nokubonga Booi said: “We do not have a study area. I stay in a single room with three people‚ which means someone is getting four times the amount due.”

“We demanded that management to decrease the fees‚ but they never did‚”

UFH spokeswoman Zintle Filtane did not reply to calls for comment.

I assume that this was at the Alice campus. A few years back they protested that the East London students received better accommodation.

Does that price include meals.
If so where do you get meals and everything else for about R65 a day

I wonder too. But they should not be packed like sardines

No it does not. It is student accommodation And the rooms are very tiny. Everything is shared and the university gets funding from the government As well.

Then they need to incentivise low cost private housing.
