Forza 3: best racing game ever?

So how exactly DO you judge which racing game is the best? The one with the most round tires???

I think Forza 3 will be fantastic, but as far as car physics go, i actually prefer the physics on GT5P compared to Forza 2. (discounting of course the lack of damage)
Will be interesting to do a comparison when GT5 launches, since then all the "bumper car" comments can finally be laid to rest.;)

Interesting...

Seems Turn10 got ahead of themselves, wish they'd let the game speak for themself rather than shoot their mouths off.

The demo of Forza Motorsport 3 was released on September 24th for the Xbox Live Marketplace. Although the Xbox 360 exclusive racing game may be a huge hit with many gamers already, there were some complaints regarding the game’s graphics. Che Chou, the community manager of Turn 10, was kind enough to address some of the concerns across multiple game forums.

Here is his response to a claim that the in-game graphics of Forza Motorsport 3 are different than the ones found in photomode:

One clarification about photomode and screenshots we've released so far. Aside from the added effects such as AA, DOF, and motion blur, all assets you see in photomode are the same although I do stand corrected on one factor which is the player car. They do have higher detail in photomode while all other cars, the environments, etc. are exactly what you see in game. And as you know in replays everything is the same. Anyway, did not mean to mislead or 'play dumb' with earlier statements as I misunderstood how LODs were being used in the various modes. That said, many of the screenshots we've released thus far have used the in-game graphics car models since we often shoot a scene including cars that aren't the player car. <shrug> It all looks good and representative of the game, imo.

Here is his comment on rather or not the graphics would be the same in the final build of Forza Motorsport 3 and if the game will have better anti-aliasing:

The demo is visually representative of the full-game so racing in-game won't look much different.

I don't see that many jaggies on my multiple TVs at home and at work, but everyone's setups can be varied.

Finally, here is his overall response to all of the complaints over the graphics:

I guess that's the thing. Overall, when I'm racing around the track, my eyes are not bleeding. I am a fairly big graphics ***. I love taking photos in photomode. Games with bad graphics distract me from my experience. That said, when I play FM3, I do not think about how awful the graphics are or low in-game car models, etc. simply because the overall effect is that the game looks good. Can it look better? Yes, totally and I agree it is not perfect. But does it justify the vitriol of some of the threads I've scanned this morning? I'm not sure that it does. Everyone has their own opinion on the matter and that's fine and there's not much I can say except I hope you'll give the final game a chance and have fun with it.

Even with the complaints about the graphics, Forza Motorsport 3 is shaping up to be the best racing game of the year, especially now that Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed until 2010. The Xbox 360 exclusive game will be released on October 23rd in North America.

That's the main thing I never liked about GT, the lack of car damage. It turns the game into a typical arcade game. You basically don't have to break around corners, since you can just bump into other cars and barriers and continue driving.

I guess it depends what you want from a racing game, simulation or arcade.

Apparently they used the same models from Forza 2, just carried them over to 3? (for the in-game vehicles)
Either way, i don't think it'll matter much to the average gamer just jonesing for a good racing-sim, but Turn 10 have said some pretty stupid things in the past as well, they clearly need a new PR guy.

That's why i said i prefer GT5P's physics (the actual handling of the cars) to that of Forza 2 (barring the lack of damage).
And even without damage, calling GT an arcade racer just shows how much time you've invested in the series (read: zilch) ;)jk
