Four people who robbed security officers collecting money at a service station in Greenwood Park, Durban, were arrested on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

"The suspects robbed the guards of cash and fired shots in the process," Colonel Jay Naicker said.

Police from the Greenwood Park police station were in the vicinity and immediately responded.

A shoot-out between the robbers and police ensued.

"Three of the suspects fled on foot whilst one fled with the getaway vehicle," Naicker said.

"Police managed to chase the three on foot and arrested them with the cash box as well as a firearm."

The fourth robber, who was in the getaway car, was cornered by the police and arrested. The car had been stolen in the Pinetown area.

Why take them alive, they are a danger to society because they fire shots at SAPS, armed robbery and I bet a stolen firearm.

IMO they must never do this again and with our k@k justice system there is only one way to prevent that.

Be very careful about what you wish for. I'm all in favour of criminals being carted off in mortuary vans rather than police vans, but Judge Dredd isn't what we want.
Well obviously if wouldn't work in Africa, nothing ever does. Crime and corruption....

What I mean is the theory is effective, but not in practice.
