Four 'Red Ants' wounded as Pikitup strike continues

A man is in custody after opening fire on Red Ant members in an alleged attack by disgruntled marchers.

JOHANNESBURG - The Red Ants have confirmed four of their employees have been shot and wounded near the Wanderers taxi rank.

The group were shot last night near a taxi rank by a group of people they believe were affiliated to The South African Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu).

The union says it’s had no reports of any of its members being involved in a shooting.

The Red Ants have been cleaning up the rubbish left uncollected in the inner city, as Pikitup workers continue their strike.

The security service says teams were verbally abused by people they believe are union members last night, when one person pulled out a gun and opened fire.

The Red Ants managed to overpower the man before handing him over to police with the fire arm.

And this is why I have no sympathy for workers or students when they decide to strike. They degenerate in to nothing but criminals.

I also like how Samwu goes on to acknowledge that the Red Ants are in danger by doing what they are doing, as if to say ''yes, we will be violent if we have to.''

At least they got the ****er, let's see how the union wriggle off this hook. They are quick to also deny that violence is perpetrated by their members because the mobs never get caught.

Yep. I'm more that willing to listen to peoples problems and be patient while they get their **** sorted, but as soon as they start burning, looting, destroying, intimidating, beating etc they can all get ****ed... which sadly always seems to be a few hours into it.

I drive past the company every morning. And every day you see crowds of men patiently waiting for job assignments and to be issued the gear.
Its quite ironic - these guys come in from informal settlements and then get a day's work clearing a informal settlement.
Lots of respect that they caught the guy and handed him over without roughing him up.
Personally - I would have 'disappeared' him - Red Ant Farms has enough real estate to do that - those tube farms of theirs use a lot of fertiliser.
