Four-ring fight after Audi TT burns

If any of these vehicles had aftermarket alarm systems or audio fitted it's not implausible that the installers did their typically crappy work and left 12v power wires poorly insulated or bare and flapping around, fire potentially waiting to happen especially if they pulled the power bypassing the fuse or directly from the battery.

The go to excuse for everything, after market audio installation.

On balance of probabilities it's quite possible that a shoddy aftermarket wiring job can cause it.

True, Or shoddy workmanship from the manufacturer, why does that not ever arise as the possible cause? Because it is only audio installers who are capable of doing a shoddy job?

It's far more likely for a aftermarket or back street installer to do a shoddy job, yes.

Well, a 110% bond is legal, so I would love a response from a lawyer type person on this. Anyway, would a diligent bank not pick up when a R750k car now costs R1bar? I think the bank knew about it and found it accepatable. Most of the time the bank representative sits on the dealer floor.

Completely different scenario.

Given the kark most of them do... Yeah it's more likely for them to feck things up

Wiring looms are manufactured in a controlled environment, tested & subject to QA procedures before fitment to a car. I would be more suspect of the aftermarket audio & tracker guys splicing into those looms with no QA...

Is anybody wondering what kind of aftermarket audio you need in a 750k TT?

Can you really put much better than the Audi B&O kit?

You are wasting your breath. Dont think logic or common sense is his strong point.

As opposed to which great aftermarket system improperly fitted that transforms your car in a love Ford Kuga?

I'll leave that up to you to decide how you spend your money on audio, but a brand name does not automatically equat to to a good product.

Except that I know first hand (having an Audi with it) that the B&O Audi one is pretty amazing and ranked amongst the ten top ones in the market (the Range Roger and Porsche ones are better, agreed).

Taking chances of getting your warranty voided or electrical issues on a 750k car to have a small bump in audio quality is a major indicator of sheer recklessness and lack of foresight IMHO. Just invest that extra money in improving your system at home.

If you say so good for you. Lot's of people rave about bose for example, good for them. Not gonna argue, I'll just nod and say you are correct ;)

Probably wanted a bigger sub :D

B&O is probably up there with Bose, not great...
Nope.

BOSE hifi stuff is generally the laughing stock of so called audiophiles, it doesn't sound terrible just horribly over priced for what you get. B&O on the other hand does make some legit well respected high end audiophile hifi equipment. The 2 are definitely in different leagues.

I have a Bose factory fitted system in my Pathfinder and the B&O in the wife's S5, Day and night difference. Granted, I don't need more in the Pathfinder. But you must be from Fietas if you are going to let someone put a boombox etc in your R1bar car. The B&O might not score high on the dB test, but then this idiot should have bought a Mk1 Golf.

This issue should have stopped with his insurance, but I guess the entitlement got the better of him. Plonkers should suffer.

Thing is that 10% isn’t insurable.

It’s for additional things like costs or alterations/renovations etc and is simply a loan extension.

Insurance is still very much on the building and property itself and same would be the case here.

If he didn’t take specific shortfall insurance then he is up **** creek. And I’m pretty sure he didn’t.

It seems there's more to car fires than wiring looms, as we recently learnt from Ford.
