FPGA usage in this country

I'm not quite sure where to post this.

Which industries in South Africa use FPGAs? (other than defence)
Is there a market at all for FPGAs other than in defence/aerospace?

I have heard of FPGAs used in computer hardware acceleration equipment. Is any of this happening in South Africa?

I cannot comment on the South African market, but FPGAs have application in finance.

However, GPUs and other co-processor type equipment like Xeon Phi are more widely used.

The only thing I can think of other than what you mentioned is companies/hobbyists that have an interest in drones/uav's.

What are you actually getting at as I'm pretty sure they are being used in SA just like asics, microcontrollers etc?
