HI guys i would just like to say that i attended Frag Showcase 2010 and i was not impressed at how the event went ... yes there were good times eg: the people and friends but i must say that this time the bad out weigh the good ...
There were plenty network problems with regards to the DC++ server and the speed of the network was slow downloading in kib/s at one stage ..
We had plenty Problems when it came to the tournys eg: we would have 5 second lag spikes and delay during a comp over a LAN network which i must say i get better response time on 3G when gaming
Power was also a problem there were a few issues with regards to overload and cut-outs in some rows
Competitions were handled wrong and unfairly
-for the mystery prize there was a guy that won the prize fair and square they did a " write your name on a piece of paper then it would get drawn " his name got drawn and the event owner said no and threw the paper away and drew another persons name and the guy was standing right infront of him ...
the dota Comp was also handled unfairly with regards to the lag and delay in the games and if you play dota and you reading this you know that how lag can cost you in gangs in a comp and according to the management they did say sorry but it took them FOREVER to fix the issue ...
COD4 comps were having connection errors during games causing players to die unfairly due to some switches were fine whilest others were corrupt this is relevent to all the comps and networking errors
The events owner eventually checked for the problem after resetting the switches several times and found out that thier uplink cable was faulty which sould have been tested before the event started
so my final opinion on FRAG is that this showcase was a let down ... if you didnt attend it and wanted to be glad cause you never missed on on anything ... the networking and power should have been tested before the event started so that there would be no issues and comps and the network can run smooth...things promised on the site eg: pool tables ect were not at the event which was one of the things me and my mates were keen on doing jamming some pool ... the comps were run unprofessionally with regards to who came where and the prizes as well were not what was allocated to be on the forums eg: 1st place would be a quad core 2nd place would be 1terb hdd and 3rd place mobo's ... end prizes were 1st place 1terb hdd , 2nd mobo's , 3rd Tshirts ... im sorry but if you state that these are the prizes for grabs for a comp you keep it that way otherwise you have unhappy customers eg: myself as one....Even staff of the event were complaining about the even owner and how he runs things at the event and doesnt care about the players all he cares about is the sponsors , fair enough but it should be 50/50 otherwise things like this happen and the event gets bad reviews ...One more thing about the comps the EVENT OWNER would blast the music in the hall = the ppl in the comps being unable to team chat and play properly even when asked to turn the music down he turned it down like a minour bit which never made a difference making it hard to play during a comp that requires communication between the players..
