I've been out of the programming game for quite a while, since I gave up my dying programming career a few years ago.
So starting up Visual Studio last night, it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to find the right tool for the job first. ASP.Net might be outdated by now.

I need to build a website for my new business venture, which I can do with good 'ol ASP.Net, but somehow doesn't seem like the right framework anymore because I've never seen it do anything really fancy or interactive. It works great for 'normal' and business webpages, but I need something fresh, fun and interactive.

What do you guys use? And what kind of interactive functionality do you get out of it?

I am also embarking on building an e-commerce site for a new venture. My choice is ASP.NET/MVC for the site itself. With HTML5 and CSS3 you can build great sites.

As far as fun & interactive, depends on what you want to do. JUST DO NOT GO THE FLASH ROUTE. Flash is dying.

Hahaha, no I'll never use Flash.

Well, ever since I saw the Disney Tron HTML5 site, I've always wanted to try that. If that's something I can do with ASP.Net at the back, that will be awesome.

You don't say. ASP.NET is not outdated, how did you come to such an educated assumption?

You do know ASP.NET has nothing to do with the presentation/visual right? Its the platform your application will run upon. The "fancy", "interactive" will be done in js or html5 animation crap.

js and html.
