Fraud on Telkom line

Interesting blog type site, what a horribly normal story about Telkom, something we've all been through in one way or another.

Can't help wondering why Sandra decided to stay in such a dodgy area, perhaps she likes to live dangerously ?

Interesting reading this stuff from people who are new to the country, puts a whole new light on life in SA.
 
I had fraud on my line in 2004, but was very impressed with the way Telkom handled it. In fact I was not aware of what was going on. One morning I received a phone call from Telkom to say that they detected fraud. The woman said that the dudes at the local exchange were using the line for international calls. She also said that my International dialing was disabled in the meantime. My statement for that month as expected contained all the phone calls made - about 50 and surprisingly there was only one made to an African country. The amount was about 3x than the usual, but was given a figure which I had to pay. The bill for the following month had a credit for every phone call made from the day the fraud was detected.

I’m not a Telkom supporter, but this was my experience!
