I received an SMS stating that my package was on its way from a certain ISP. I thought someone might have fraudulently opened an account in my name so I contacted the ISP, who wasn't much help. I also contacted the courier partner who sent me a screengrab of the order details. I recognised my friend's details and contacted him asking why he gave my contact details. He didn't know what I was talking about but told me the following:
Apparently a promo guy came to his house and spoke to him about packages. My friend is moving so he wants to downgrade the fibre for his relatives. The salesperson said he'll send him the prices and requested a picture of his ID and that was it.
After I called him, he called the ISP and requested the approval document. Turns out his signature was forged on the document. How can he escalate this and how come they have my number for his sign up?
