A friend's mom is a dementia patient at an old age home. She just got an invoice from her cell phone provider for thousands for Google purchases.

I checked the phone, it has 1 Google account on it and 0 purchases ever. With there being Huawei App store purchases also, I suspect that someone has been borrowing her sim card, making purchases and putting it back after.

To request a refund from Google, we need to log into the Google account that made the purchases. I don't have that information. Am asking the cell phone network to give us the details of the IMEI numbers that have been using the sim card.

Does anyone know how do you take this up with Google?

Open a fraud case with the police. Then they can subpoena the IMEI info from the network.

Then approach Google with the criminal case number and supporting affidavit?

Thank you, I was also thinking the network is partly to blame for giving a pensioner a bill limit of thousands of rands, which they cannot afford

Everybody should have a limit. I was highjacked and they took my phone that was in the car. They racked up R7k on international calls to reverse charged numbers in the matter of a few hours. I was liable and had to pay it. Insult to injury.
