Fraudulent Seller

Good day

A friend of mine (blacklisted) got in contact with this one guy at his dealer apparently. He paid R10 000 deposit to buy a Ford Fiesta, and after 4 months my friend can't get in contact with him anymore.

The guy's number is 0834377683. Has anyone ever dealt/got scammed by this guy? Please let me know and what my friend can do to get his money back.
 
How were such things supposed to work? You are blacklisted, then you pay a dealer the deposit, after that what happens?
 
Was there any paperwork signed? Hopefully your friend wasn't stupid enough to just hand over the 10k.

Open a case with the police.

Few weeks back we talked about this at work, apparently you pay someone who works at ITC or whatever if you are blacklisted. Then that person takes of your name out the ITC for couple of months, so you can get finance for whatever you need. Then after your name is put back again on ITC.

I don't know if its true though maybe that is what happened to OP's friend.

For someone with a proven track record of not being able to repay their debts, bribery and more debt is possibly not the wisest life choice...

ITC is Transunion, I wonder what they do about the credit records at Experian and XDS and Compuscan (just to name the other big 4)...

Probably the “contact” is the one that does the credit checks at the in house finance company at the dealership.
