Dafuq is an airdrop :wtf:

Usually a new crypto project that chooses to distribute their tokens for free into the wallets of willing participants :

● These tokens are usually ERC20 Ethereum tokens,
● These projects are also very often scams / nonsense etc.

However, it doesn't cost you anything and there are occasional gems that become worth something.

You'll need an ERC20 wallet like myetherwallet.

You will also need to have Twitter and Telegram:

Twitter to follow and retweet the project that's airdropping.
Telegram to join their channel (mute it as soon as you've joined.)

So it goes like this:

1.) You get a link to a form
2.) Fill it in with email, ERC20 wallet address, twitter name, twitter retweet link and telegram username.
3.) Follow the project on twitter and join their Telegram
4.) A few days / weeks later you get tokens in your ERC20 wallet.
5.) You can then sell those tokens on exchanges right away or wait a few weeks and see what happens.

The reason for this thread is a lot of them require active participation on bitcointalk forums. Is there any interest for a Telegram group that announces those airdrops that don't require bitcointalk accounts?

I'll stick to just those that don't require bitcointalk membership for now.
That said - there's a lot of airdrops available if you have a bitcointalk account.

Before the ETH gas costs got driven up in the past few months there used to be so many airdrops. My MEW is full of ****coins right now, but a few of them are worth something \ - either priced up by the market or projects that've actually gone on to do something.

It's kind of a nice way to learn more about crypto and the smaller exchanges - especially etherdelta as many of these tokens start trading there. And it's also a nice way to learn about these smaller projects really early on. You join the telegram to get the airdrop but then end up getting involved or something.

Lot of noise but can also be fun and a learning experience - if only to familiarize yourself with how scammers operate :).
 
Do people want a few of the airdrops that require bitcointalk membership or prefer keeping it like it is?

I don't have membership but it doesn't bother me, maybe just note that its required?

Good idea.
There's sometimes one or two that look interesting that require bitcointalk.
Will just put a note then.

(If you want you can join there, make a few posts and never touch your account again. They don't require active participation all the time - usually just that you put your ETH address in your location in your profile settings.)

I prefer using Myetherwallet.
However, in metamask you can ADD TOKEN, where you will need to enter:

Contract Address
Symbol
Decimals

These details can be found in https://etherscan.io, or https://ethplorer.io/,
where you'd enter you wallet address to see the activity of the account.

Token Transfers > Select the new token (in this example the REBL token)

Then you can see the details needed to add the token.

Ah thanks, looks like I messed up some of the airdrops, just gave my eth address from Meta.

Although Im confused now, added CREDO to meta, do I now have a separate CREDO address or just the ETH wallet address? And where would I find the CREDO address?

You will always use your ETH address for those forms. The same main ETH address all the time.

Your ETH address is just the wallet that holds those other coins. You send and receive them using your ETH address.

So the main address is fine as the tokens will still show up?

Yep.
All tokens go in & out via that main Ethereum address - there's never any other address.

The only other thing with the word 'address' in it is the 'contract address' that used to add a custom token.
But that's not used for anything else.
It's just data for the token to be seen by your wallet.
 
If gas prices are down tomorrow / soon I'll send out a few silly tokens so you can test your address and try adding a new token to your wallet.
