Hi

I need some software to block certain types of websites from being viewed.

Requirements:

Runs at the PC level under Windows XP.
Requires at least a password to turn off.
Is preferably freeware or shareware.
Allows the blocking of specified weighted phrases.
When blocking, doesn't tell the user that the site is being blocked - just gives a 404 error, or something similar.

I'm not dealing with rocket scientists, so it doesn't have to be uber-secure - it just has to get the job done.

Any suggestions?

Well, ZoneAlarm should do the trick, I think it has a feature to dissallow certain sites from being accessed. You can also try using a host file.

Similiar to this, or use this one, just add your own sites to it ;)

Tera's got the suggestion down pat.

The hosts file is the poor man's firewall when it comes to blocking sites, and works just as well.
