hopefully heaven but probably hell
i have been using cuteftp for years, but recently come to the conclusion that it is utter crap due to some weird server probs that went away when i used another ftp prog.

right now i am using an opensource one called filezilla, but in terms of looks and GUI design, it is utter crap. (why do all open source progs have crap GUI's)

anyway, any suggestions on a decent ftp app that is free or is easy to turn into a try before you buy. (yes i am cheap and lesbians are expensive)

Ok...are you wanting to upload or download? If you want to download use DAP, it is the only one I have found that has a functional resume function. If you want to download try FFFTP. There is another really good one I will try remember its name.

always used SmartFTP with success, but have been using FireFTP (firefox plugin) lately and works great, but might be a bit on the lightweight side (feature wise)

Yo!

Filezilla's interface is crap, but have you tried to play around with what views you want? View --> Local treeview/Remote treeview/Message log/Transfer queue....

um... i dont want a download manager... ftp to run and maintain websites on webservers.

Smart Ftp is excellent but it wants to be purchased? What happens after the 30 day trial?

For the guys who suggested filezilla and failed to read my initial post, I am using it but it has the crappest GUI.

smartftp is damn fine.

FileZilla's interface is not the greastest. But whats the point of an FTP Program ? It's a simply GUI Interface that just does the job.I dont need all the dam clutter of other FTP Programs + its free
