Free Gif animator

I'm looking for a free gif animator. Do you know of any good, easy to use ones?
Just wasted my time downloading one now that's so confusing to use

I just want to use it to make animated banners for my website.

Few things on the webz that are worth the effort are free these days.

So much for the idea of open source and anti-monopolistic business practices.

Joomla and wordpress are free and both are brilliant.
I used to have ulead5 animator but it expired. Surely theres a good quality gif animator software somewhere out there on the interwebz?
I dont want to waste my time downloading useless ones.
