A vendor came and pitched their mobile technology at us this morning. Basically access content via their WAP site using some cool propriatery backend technology they developed.
The presenter made some interesting claims about the cost of transacting.
He said that you only pay 2c (as mandated by ICASA) to connect to GRPS. The initial connection is called the "free browser period" which in intended for 1st request to make a connection to your intended target URL.
In normal situations normal data charges kickin after this connection. He claims though that they are able to manipulate the initial connection i.e. "the free browser period" by keeping it always open and routing all traffic through it.
The net result, you only pay 2c for the initial connection and then free browsing via their site.
Now I know you can't sugarcoat a turd but I don't know enough about this and have not been able to find any supporting information on the net.
Hope someone can shed some light on this.
