Trust me, I can see the big picture and because of that I know that things have to be done properly to have a lasting effect.

My company spends over R60k per month on telecoms...I would love it to be cheaper...its one of my biggest bills.

Just because you dont have any money doesnt mean you can shoot a man for his wallet...

what it did was mislead the public with a product that was doomed to be discontinued...

I hear you, and to be honest Aus and NZ dont have the best broadband around either...there is lots of complaining going on there..they also have caps, limits etc...not as bad as us granted.Most people there have water and electrisity so internet is more of a priority...this means more users.

They also jumped on the internet bandwagon before we did...

They also have per gig billing. 10 Gb for 10 dollars (R45). And no shaping.

For NZ$100 / month you can get, line rental including free local calls. 2mbps adsl with 3gb cap and NZ$10 / 10gb over your cap. Oh yes they throw in a free modem and no set up fees.

Telkom invariably use two excuses when trying to justify their exorbitant broadband / bandwidth prices. One being geographical in that we are distant from usa and europe, the other being that our "suburbs" are not broadband friendly - being generally low density housing. I think New Zealand clearly shows that it is possible to provide a decent service despite those obsticles
 
Hey i never said it couldnt be done, i just meant we joined the race kinda late and we may have a few more hurdles than the rest of the runners...

On that, I agree with you 100%. Getting it right first time is first prize. In this instance however, everytime Telkom makes a move it seems to be one step back for the consumer every time.
 
If your free ice cream tastes like dog food then people will complain. In the end you should get what you pay for. We pay a staggering sum of money to "Download Life" only to discover it is not life as we know it. We are only allowed Life in small byte sized portions, you are only allowed 3 courses, extra ice cream can be served, for a hefty premium. Your are not allowed to eat your 3 courses at full speed and all bytes will shaped to ensure glacier paced digestion. You get the idea.
And no, we do not dismiss the other problems in this country; we discuss them in the appropriate forums, MYADSL is not one of them.
 
Hey, if you dont understand why something is broken its going to be alot more difficult to fix
