Hi All,

I am looking for a new mail server, going for Exchange is over the top for a company of 20 pc's.

I used to run 602Lansuite, Which worked fine...it wasn't great, but it got the job done...till I lost my server and decided to not look back at 602. I wanna upgrade, get some stats etc. I am sure there must be a program out there which will do this.

However I have found it rather frustrating locating a decent program. Icewarp has merged with 602 Lansuite to form Groupware Server. I have tried this, but it doesn't seem to offer the retrieval of mail from an external source, In my case, Webafrica. It wants to be setup as the mail server, and I honestly dont want to do that, I have Webafrica already and they work fine. Currently all my users are logged in directly to WA. It isnt really a problem, I just want all the mails to be downloaded and backedup on the server for good measure.

I have tried Hmailserver as well, even though it has an external account option, it seems a bit outdated for a program that is currently being worked on.

Is there anyone out there, that have found and can vouch for a decent Mail Server? Even if it costs a bit, its just that Exchange is too expensive for us at this point in time.

Try hMailServer or SmarterMail. Both are decent Email Servers that have free "limited" capability.

Ok I had a look at Zimbra, in more than "one" word...can I install Zimbra on a Windows based computer? It doesnt seem like it.

Thanks for the fast replies.

Kerio. Took me an hour to set it up last night and i've never set up a mail server before. It has nearly all the features of an exchange server and can sync perfectly with outlook and other mobile devices. You can install Kerio on a Mac/windows/linux based pc

You did'nt mention it was to run on a doze box! It's Linux based, would be worth your while to set up a dedicated box with Zimbra, it's rock solid.

Check out hMailserver - played around with it the other day and it worked great!
