free satellite internet?

Looks very legit as it is advertised for R3800 but selling for R4000. Anyone know what speed 4.5mkps is? Why do they re-sell bandwidth when it is advertised for free. Looks dodgey.

I'm pretty sure this is for limited period. nothing is for mahala..what happens after the promotional period expires?

It seems a scam. You pay for the uploaded data bandwidth and the downloaded data bandwidth is for free from what i gather. Best is to call and ask.

The R4k is just for the satellite equipment. If you read the ad closely it says you need to buy data for uploads :p

you understand a packet can't be downloaded without a packet being uploaded unless you're steaming 'best effort' data like DSTV, where the integrity of the incoming packets don't matter

There are a number of "free satellite" services in Africa.
All used for education:.
Think: 1 x KU Band dish connected to a TV - in the middle of nowhere - it receives educational media (mostly in the developing countries up North).

2 way sat coms (internet browsing) are never free.

I've used InMarsat and BGAN/R-BGAN in SA.
Both cost about $10 a minute for 128Kbps streaming (full duplex).
