I have seen a lot of people asking for video converters here in this thread. Well Giveawayoftheday is giving away Plato iPod Video Converter for today only (you must install it today).

This is not advertising... just a tip to fellow forumites! I have nothing to do with that site... and it is free anyway. No strings attached.

Will it work to download it and then install it on another PC without am internet connection, or is there some activation that needs to be done?

no... it needs an internet connection to activate... but it gives you the key as well... which is...

But that promotional key is only valid for today...

you can download the version 4.84 of the program from here...

Then using that program and the activation code for today you should be able to install on a pc without and internet connection.

Plato Video to iPod Converter is an idea program for anyone. It enables you convert almost all kinds of video files such as rm, divx, xvid, avi, wmv, asf, mpg, mpeg, vob, mov, qt, mp4, 3gp, swf, nsv to Apple iPod /iPhone /Apple TV mp4 video.

Says rm would that also include rmvb format? - Real Media

Although there is a Free version similar to this :)

Just converted my first video with the app successfully. Although, the audio is now out of sync. Off hand, does anyone know why this might have happened? I'll google around to see what I can find.

In the comments on the bottom of the page, some guy suggests using MediaCoder instead, citing several reasons.

It seems its better then Plato from what i read, anybody actually able to provide more details?

Giveawayoftheday? Is that a free site? Pity I didn't know about it earlier... or did I? :D:D:D

I have also kept an archive of all that I have downloaded from there, especially the games. But it is a bit of a pain getting it into a form where I don't have to worry about their activation software shell wrapper. How do you get around that?
I prefer this one which the offer has expired now :(

They also gave away ZC Video Converter... which in my opinion is the best of the lot. It is excellent at repairing and converting videos.
