Free VPN

Free vpn s usually have slower speeds. Maybe give it a spin and let us know. I use unotelly's vpn

I tried them yesterday for an hour. Couldn't get openvpn running on Windows 8.1, but if you open the provided config file you can get the server details and setup a vpn connection using 8.1s built in vpn connection manager.

I got on avg 7mbps down on a 20mbps line, but who knows how much of that loss is due to the issues on Afrihost...

Tests looked good, no dns leakage and connection was stable.

As far as free goes it looks pretty good

Testing this now on a 2Mb/s line using TI uncapped. For a free vpn this is actually not bad at all!

480p youtube streams fine, 720p buffers a bit but then again 720p only just works on a 2Mb/s line and one has to account for the vpn traffic overhead.
Torrents fluctuate between 140-180Kb/s
Using wget to download files is a bit slow 70-100Kb/s
Using a multi-threaded download manager I have constant speeds of 176-186Kb/s which is just shy of normal speeds and I put this down to vpn overheads.
Hulu free works fine on high quality setting without any buffering, it actually builds up a decent buffer.
itv uk streams fine using hola.

VPN adds about 80ms of latency depending on location.

The VPN terminates in Norway for those interested.

That sounds decent enough and more like the paid ones. Maybe the difference in throughput between this one and the paid ones is noticeable at higher line speeds

Yes we need someone with a high speed line & a good capped data package to test it for us, I think I know just the right person, let me PM him :D

Tested on my 13Mbps line and its pretty impressive for a totally Swedish based VPN that has no speed and cap limit nor does it have a p2p or usenet limit.

It was slow yesterday but has picked up a lot. I expected it to be slow because hey its advertised on the home page of a very very popular torrent site that offers links to torrents for download so I expected a lot of people to connect and download stuff.

Did some tests tonight and I can give it a big thumbs up.

Usenet with 1 paid server and 1 free server with total of 15 connections.

Downloading a torrent that is very poorly seeded because its a new release and I'm not even connected to 1 seed.

Very respectable speeds for stuff that usually gets the lowest speeds. I am connected with a Telkom Softcap accounts and all the tests was done with the VPN service.

And it's already in your sig?

Glitch, you are connected to seeds there. What I've noticed when I've used PD-Proxy.

Well yeah its a decent service worth trying out. Decided to add it to my sig because got tired of advertising for Vox... :)

Well bitcomet is always confusing but I find its THE best download manager. LTS [long term seeding] AND emule plugin for speeding up torrents and a download manager for HTTP and FTP links. Pretty good all rounder.

Thanks for testing cavedog.

I've added it to my network manager for good. I'm gonna see is tweaking openvpn will get me a little more speed but it won't be much.

EDIT:
I forgot to terminate the vpn earlier and carried on with whatever it was I was doing and I did not even notice I was on a VPN :D

I'd rather jump off a cliff.

Also how the hell is me @post 11 the first to ask relevant questions? Like which legal jurisdiction do they fall under? Or even how do they support their operations seeing how its free?

And if the above isn't a factor then you shouldn't be using a VPN in the first place...rather bounce it off an Amazon region of your choice.

Servers are located in Sweden (hosted by Portlane Networks AB) and fall under Swedish jurisdiction.

It's an upstart, they quite openly admit they wont be able to carry this on indefinitely, they will have to start charging at some stage. Apparently the pirate bay link netted them 100 00 users so far, those could potentially become paying customers in the near future. It's like drugs, give the first hit away for free, get them hooked and then start charging.

These guys are still around and their prices are good.
Anyone using them currently?
