Hi All,

I'm a very satisfied user of the proxy service provided by Nebular Internet services (mentioned in this thread). I signed up at the end of April and can honestly say that it's made my ADSL worth having once again. The service has been up almost 100% of the time, and the few times that it was temporarily down or a bit slow was due to Telkom working on their lines (and I was notified about it). Also, all my emails have been answered on the same day (sometimes within the hour) - now that's service! :D

I am a heavy downloader and do lots of browsing and P2P downloads. Regarding the speeds you can expect: at the beginning of the month when most other users are still uncapped I max out my 384kbps HomeDSL. Later on in the month I never go below the guaranteed 64kbps, and during the wee hours of the morning I usually get 100-200kbps. Not bad for R100 a month! :) There are also faster packages available - see the product page here (the FreeDSL ADSL Proxy section).

Please note that I have no affiliation with Nebular. I'm just a happy customer who would like to share the love and see these guys do well :p

Cheers,
Theodor

I am also a FreeDSL user and have been using the service for the last month and a half. Normal browsing and http downloading is ok but I cannot get P2P (bitcomet) on international sites to work.

What P2P program do you use?

I use a mix: BitComet on one machine and Azurues on the other (though not at the same time). Sometimes I use eMule, depending on what I want to get.
It's important to configure the apps to be gentle on the proxy server: max 30 connections, only 1 new connection per second, etc. With this setup I've downloaded quite a few gigs in the past month-and-a-half :)
