Well everyone. After finalizations and so forth, freedsl has been officially launched. Test accounts are available on request.

To follow up, the service is a dedicate link over 768KB diginet from SAIX. Maximum users per 512KB link is 20 users.

Costing structure:
Once-off Admin fee of R150
Monthly Subscription of R100

If you'd like to sign up, please email me at [email protected] and I'll send through the documents.

A general look at the service, you as a client, should get an average of 5-10kb int bandwidth. Depending on how fast the service grows, we will be looking at punching the link up to 2MB in the next 6 months.

Thanks again

Why call it Freedsl if you have to pay for it, or has the meaning of the word "free" been changed since I left school? mmm nobody told me.... Ah wait, that means I can start SELLING stuff for FREE and gain market share by giving away my services and then sending them a bill for my free services :D

The "Free" in FreeDSL is concidered to be directed at the bypass of the cap, therefore being "free" of the limitations you pay so much for.

There is no such advertising of a free service even though the name may contain the word "free" in it.

There isn't much to the FreeDSL service. It is a proxy service that does your internet bidding on behalf of you. What type of information are you looking for?

diginet? Isn't that really bad for gaming???
Well a dedicated diginet line is the best connection you can get in this country, if you have the cash.... :D look around the fourm's for aprox pricing...

Approx prcing is:

128KB Diginet Telkom: R4800/m
128KB Diginet ISP: R5000/m

= R9800/m for a 128KB Diginet line.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I was just having you on. :D

So how much is a 768kbps Diginet line? I think 2MB is R120k.

larooste i agree give the ppl a chance

lets not make this a lets shoot down the competition forum

rather check it out before you go anal on them :)

Yes, please. This is not the first time bobs_uncle has mentioned this sevice on the forum. It has been tested by a few people - with positive results. Also, I do believe the service is available on a month to month basis, so if you're not happy with the service you can just cancel it.

its an proxy account, you will still require isp account + adsl line.

Well the service has been running for more than a week officially now, and seems to have been a prven and fast connection.

We don't have an official site for the FreeDSL service, however the company's website is http://www.nebular.za.net

Thanks again.

We are rolling out SOCKS5 support very soon, and we have redone the VPN solution. It uses the standard VPN connection that Windows has built in, so there are not required extra configurations or the such. Should be rolling this solution out in the next month.

Hi all,

Just out of interest, these are some of the comments I have been receiving in my mail after people have signed up for the freedsl service. These comments have not been altered or manipulated in any way.

"Excellent, thank you! At the end of the month I'll definitely share my experiences with the other myadsl.co.za forum members"

"I experienced speeds between 33-39 kbs last night"

"The speed is amazing - i'd like to sign up for an account"

For those that are wondering, FreeDSL is not prohibited to a certain amount of users. We can probably run 100 users comfortably at about 10KB average.
