I have been asked to help freelance on a project based in the EU, the project is around my area of expertise and all that so I decided to hop on. Now the person running the project has asked for my business address and my registration as a freelancer (or company).

What sort of things do I need to get in a row, in order to become a freelancer on this project? I know quite a few of you on here are freelancers, thanks in advance.

Register a company, it will take 2 or 3 days. Then open a bank account in its name and that's it. It will help with your tax affairs and to separate your PAYE you pay via your current employer and the income you're going to get from the EU.

Also just run this by your current employer out of courtesy and also in case there's a clause in your contract requiring you to do so.

Thanks! So what would be the best type of company to register? Should I register as a private company?

LOL, of course. A public company is one that lists on the stock exchange and I'm pretty sure you don't have R1mil lying around just for that :D
