Freighting company...?

Right...

Anyone here have recommendations of a good freighting company they've used to bring in some hardware or delicate electronic machinery? I'm talking around 100KG on a single pallet.

Or does anyone have an account with Kuhne + Nagel who would be willing to help me out bringing something in from the USA?

Well, depends, need to figure shipping first. As usual it's a killer on most deals.

Last time I tried to get an account with K+N I was stumped at the questions on the form. Might have to give it a go again. I have about 7 days to figure it out.
 
Wow that was easy. I've been trying to find a freighting company to bring some stuff from China for quite a while. Man what a mission. Any help?

Are we talking sea or air here? I used a good sea freight company based in Taiwan for a similarly 400kg delicate piece of kit, albeit not as old as yours ;)
 
Aaaargghhhh!!! Damn Americans gone sold the stupid machine out from under me. I guess it'll be another 10 years now before I find another one.

But thanks to those who helped with the shipping quotes. I've got your details on hand and will contact you again when I need something large shipped from overseas.
 
Uhmmm... something "embarrasing" really considering your average video card these days would walk all over it. :D

Silicon Graphics Onyx2 with Infinite Reality 2 Extreme graphics and (apparently) 2x 350MHZ MIPS R12000 CPUs. It was the "deskside" workstation version weighing in at a lightweight 80KG.

There's apparently one in Holland, but spec reads 2x 195MHz MIPS R10000 processors and just Infinite Reality 2. But it has the 8 monitor display board which would have been fun. :) This one has newer skins in perfect condition so I might actually go for it sometime in the future and get the boards as I find them, but the big-ass R14000 500MHz processor boards (can have 2 in the machine) cost a bloomin' fortune.

And don't compare MIPs processors to desktop processors in terms of CPU speed. The architectures are very different.

PSU is about 3KW, I think it needs 2x 230V 30A circuits so even if I didn't get it fired up I'd at least have some heat in the house during winter. :D

This onyx2 thing is actually the newer version of what I've been after since maybe 1994 since I first played with one, an original onyx.

And don't diss it... the engineers from Silicon Graphics are the boys that created the GeForce back in the day. :) And OpenGL used to be called IrisGL. Man, SGI really got run by a bundle of twats. They filed again for chapter 11 in Feb this year.
 
Oh, and if you have to diss why I'd want to buy it, then the answer is: "the $250 purchase price was alot better than the original R2,500,000" :D
 
Yip, all stock bought for next to nothing.
They do have a interesting history, just as interesting as their machines.
For now I'm giving my onyx2 and other large SGI dreams a break. Did manage to get myself a little baby O2 though, but will only see it next February or there abouts. Still going to get that onyx2, but looks like becoming a dad next June has called those plans short for now.
 
Yip, seems to have alot, but unfortunately I'm hunting in the enthusiast priced market. Right now there are 2 onyx2 with RE3 in the USA up for sale for $900 each and open to offers. If only I didn't just spend a chunk on a new PC ...
 
Hmmm... any luck yet with obtaining the infamous Onyx2?

Personally I'm looking for the 4D series, with perhaps VGX graphics.... or even a Crimson...
Must have one of those O.O
