Frequent disconnections

I connected as soon as I got home last night and left the connection on overnight with torrents running and the Sentch dialer software window open. This morning everything was still going fine with no sign of a disconnect. I just hope that whatever caused the fault has been resolved.

Is anyone else still having a problem?

Strange you say that Jhbgirl... I'm pleasantly surprised to see that I almost get full speed on Helderkruin now.. (I am on a different sector tho) Its noticably faster than Horizon. The signal strength is just about the same - only difference is that Helderkruin is closer....

Sheesh, Headend, you still having issues non stop for more than a day? Then I cant complain with my +- 30 mins...

Quick question... are any of you's that have a stable (i.e. no disconnections) connection on 256k? I seem to be getting the impression that it's just us poor 256'ers that have a problem.

I'm lucky in that I also have adsl and a draytek load-sharing router, so the impact on my business is not too bad, tho it does look like I'm gonna hit my adsl cap this month.

I'm still battling with this one. I've disconnected the "modem" from my firewall and connected it to my laptop. After a few hours testing, I've discovered the following:

1) Started a download of trixbox (great IP PBX for anyone interested). Download runs at a blistering 4.8 KB/s, but connection stays up.
2) Stop the download and the modem disconnects within a few minutes.

Starting to suspect that sentech are forcing disconnections if there is no traffic for a few minutes. Anyone else able to confirm whether they have seen this?

Next step is to configure wget to pull a page every minute!

Update - it seems sentech does now disconnect you if there's no activity on the link. Using wget and task scheduler I'm pulling a small jpg off a web server every minute and my connection has stayed up for the last 3 hours.

Go figure!

I hope it does work because you don't really have much choice! Now that they've dropped the Classis packages, there really is no reason to stay and put up with this ****ty service.

I really hope Telkom installs my ADSL next month :(
