ag BTech thats hectic shame man...yeah well the disconnects have gotten so bad lately my better half is cancelling the ISDN line *sob.

I have to say for what we needed, it has been perfect but hey ho, tis simply too expensive to keep reconnecting .

CacklinToad:(

I'm with you all on this - the last 3 weekends have been crap! Disconnects for no reason whatsoever (no lightning etc...)

Telscum must hate InfinityCall customers..... (Probably because it was a good product at its time, quite contrary to company policy!)

   So it looks like the 24gigs of data I transferred April is gonna cost me like R1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000-00.

Its cheaper to buy 1000000000000000 rips at the robot than support proudly SA Slowkom or is it disconnectkom :p

DIE TELSKOMMEL DIE !

HAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOING NUTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you downloading a lot and frequently getting disconnection problems (ISDN), the best option for you will get an ADSL Line :)

Don't get 25gb unshaped international on adsl :( for what ISDN costs.

Lets face it. With ISDN you get around 25 unshaped gigs (international) a month for around R600-00 which is not that bad compared to other ADSL services. The speed is consistent as well as latency.

The only reason I stay stuck with ISDN is because the ADSL packages from slowkom are capped etc pathetic. I'm waiting for the SNO which I hope will fix the situation

The main thing thats starting to frustrate the hell out of me is that besides the disconnections. If your not able to download with a download manager as some servers refuse it you have to restart a download. Now its easy to download 600mb using infinite call in one session (evening). However if you have to restart the download you have to wait another day.

Anyways my downloading is primarily err work stuff:rolleyes:

and yes I was disconnected twice last night. I'm not throwing any options out as to the cause just yet. I'll proley be formatting this weekend anyway because I did a nero update last night that has cuased about 300 registry errors & BSOD. So just for your info NERO 7.2.0.3b demo has killled my pc.

 Hey slowskommel how did you get that right !!

No disconnections last night ???

 WTF was all of last week and the week before about then?

lol nice pic BTech, i've also not experienced any disconnects only the pc re-starting every so often - think it had to do with having bluetooth modem set up as well. No disconnects since removing.

I'm with saix, my previous ISP gave me a lots of disconnects, at that time i was on a 56k so....

 Disconnected twice last night. Once at 11pm and them at 11:45pm. Seems that my disconnection cr@p is proportionate to my posting on MyAdsl??Lol!!

Anyways. Telskommel ...DIE DIE DIE:eek:

Has there been a lot of rain in your area in recently months? If so, that would provide a potential explanation as to why you went for a few months with no disconnects, and then all of a sudden they started again (i.e. rain got in, or underground water level rose, and this interfered with your line and perhaps started some corrosion on it).

Get a Telkom technician to come out. Go with him to the local exchange where your line connects through. Tell him to plug his little machine in. Make him show you the readings on the "A channel" and the "B channel". You want these readings to be LOW. If they are high, that means there is dirt and water and other things interfering with the part of your line between the exchange and your house. If the readings are high, instruct him to 'find clean channels' for both wires.

:) Hi Debbie2

I've basically had ISDN since it started in SA. I've had technichians out (more than I can remember), exchange cards changed (on my insistance), lines replaced, relayed, tested and even had lengthy battles with TelkomInternet (also my ISP) where they have even provided me with their log sheet showing which pop, exchange, switch etc was used when I connected. They actually do have detailed connection tracerts which they also submitted to me. Since my connection was initially a business one as I worked from home I was even given their standby guys cell number etc. So yes I have had a lot of guys look into this problem. I must admit that it has been going on for years. I actually live about a hundred metres from an exchange and have even had wires running in the veld around my house over the neighbours roof to test. I've had my PC'(s) checked, software verified, replaced modems..even bought a Telkom ISDN modem from their shop.

At the end of the day, Telkom just deny deny and deny any culpability or responsibility. Whats even more astounding is that even trying their complaints route all the way to the top (about two years ago) achieved nothing.

The fact remains.

We are at their mercy

They completely deny resetting their exchange or dropping users...despite the fact that the logs they gave me showed that the connection was ended on their side of the fence. Its really great to get a log from them that shows the connection was terminatwed at their IP end..pity it doesn't make any difference. In fact I even went so far as to get direct SAIX and even one mweb test account. Still dropped the connection.

Hey Btech,

Why don't you present the evidence you have to ICASA, or alternatively, take it to a small claims court. Claim back from them for disconnections over the past few years. And make it clear that you will claim back for disconnections again in another year's time if this continues.

Complaining to ICASA and asking them to tell Telkom to refund you is a viable route. Believe it or not, but I have heard from several people who were successful in this way.

Just thought I'd share this info. Use it/don't use it :)

That sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me.
