Not sure if this is even relavant at all. But I found it to be the quality of the modem that has to do with disconnects.
I used to have a cheap internal ISDN modem that I got from Rectron. It did it's job, and it worked quite good. It disconnected every once in a while.
Then I go a cheap USB ISDN modem. Disconnects nearly every night. And 3 or 4 times on the weekend. It was ridiculous!!
Bought a high quality internal ISDN modem (which cost R1000 here), but managed to get it for R100 from overseas. And since I've started using the high quality internal ISDN modem, I have no had ONE disconnect!! Not a single one!! I've been using it for nearly 3 months now. My monthly bills have gone down, and I've saved a few rands.
All though this...the same line. Telkom haven't visited me to work on the line. I've had no problems with the line. So through all the modem changes, the line has stayed the same.
So I've kinda concluded that it also might have something to do with modem quality.
:L:
P.S. - The modem I managed to get is the Eicon Diva ISDN Internal Pro 2 Modem
