Frequent disconnects

For the last 3 weeks I have been having problems with my MTN internet in Tzaneen.

If I do not use the connection for about a minute, I have to disconnect and reconnect to browse further. Example I read a page on mybb, and if I click on a link or a new post I get a 'page not found' error. I disconnect and reconnect, then I can carry on with what I wanted to do. This is an ongoing problem now. As long as I keep the connection active- playing online radio in the background, I have no problems. The speed is also excellent.

For obvious reasons I cannot keep streaming a radio station in the background just to keep my connection alive (That's what FM is for!).
I have a MTN 2gig contract, with E367 modem
Please can an MTN rep help with this?

Hi charl

I use to have the same problem.
With your MTN Dashboard disconnect.
Go to Setup/Network and select "WCDMA only"

Connect and try it now.

Thanks Lud, But I have had the modem set up to WCDMA only since I started using it in November last year. This problem only started about a month ago now.
The funny thing is, I have 2 of these contracts, the modems are used in 2 different locations, but give the same problem.
If I put the simcard into my Vodafone K3570z modem, I do not have that problem. Could it have something to do with the fact that the E367 is 21mb/s and the vodafone only connects at ±7mb/s?

I also tried a Cell C sim in the modem over the weekend, and had no problems at all. So I definitely think it is a network problem.
