Since the lightning last night my router connects intermittently.
When connected, it shows
Board ID: DSL-2640U
Software Version: RU_1.25
Boot loader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-12.1
Release Date: Nov.29,2010
Wireless Driver Version: 4.174.64.19
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 512
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 1024
LAN IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.1
Default Gateway: 196.210.201.1
Primary DNS Server: 168.210.2.2
Secondary DNS Server: 196.14.239.2
Date/Time: Mon May 27 06:31:32 2013

When disconnected it is still syncing but the last four lines show:
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 512
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 1024
LAN IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.1
Default Gateway:
Primary DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Secondary DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Date/Time: Sat Jan 01 00:01:32 2000

Perhaps some of you in lightning prone areas can confirm whether I must buy a new router?

I have tried choosing different servers to sync the clock, tried rebooting, tried manual DNS servers. No luck. Oddly there is not gateway showing and the DNS servers are the default IP until it connects again.

I will reset and re-flash the bios before I buy another one, preferably with a surge protector.

i think if you reset and restore factory defaults, the problem should go away. if it is fried, it's rare that it half works. If this "Primary DNS Server: 168.2102.2 " is not a copy&paste error, perhaps firmware got corrupted and needs a reflash.

Did a reset and reflashed the firmware for good measure. So far so good.

Also OpenWeb suggested I use the DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I've not compared whether these are any better than the automatically assigned ones, but they are working.

Going Off topic: I see the DNS server address they gave is the Google DNS, for what good reason I cannot say. When I ran DNS Benchmark the automatically assigned servers are much faster, namely Dimension Data and IS. Will probably change back.
