Hi everybody, I'm new here and I'm not sure if this is the right place but here it goes.

My friend wants to buy a laptop for R7000. I wanna know what sort of specs she should be expecting for that. She needs to do basic things like right email and stream and watch movies with little to no gaming. Finding something with bang for buck would great. Here are the 2 we are considering. Do they seem of good value and is there an online store which would be better to purchase from?

Thank-you for your future help :)

I recommend you to check out the Carbonite Classifieds, specifically BillyBob and [AKO] MatthewGhost, they often sell great laptops brand new or only a couple of months old, full warranty until 2018/9, for R2000-R3000 less than retail.

i5 CPU, 8GB RAM and SSD in that price range.

Those are pretty decent for the price. I'd go with the ASUS.

email, streaming and virtually no gaming.. get an atom x5 /z37xx (though this thing can play games quite easily too) notebook and pocket the extra 3-4k

Where you located, some retail shops like game etc have specials that are region specific.

Dell, don't discount refurbished machines. Rather go for a higher spec refurbished machine for R7 k than a low spec new machine for R7 k.
